The Environmental Hearings Office is an independent state agency housing the following boards: • Pollution Control Hearings Board • Forest Practices Appeals Board • Environmental and Land Use Hearings Board • Shorelines Hearings Board • Hydraulic Appeals Board The Office is an umbrella agency over the five boards providing a central process to conduct business and support the boards. The Office has three staff members and three administrative appeal judges. The chair of the Pollution Control Hearings Board serves as the Director. The mission of the Environmental Hearings Office is to support the five independent and impartial boards it encompasses. The mission of each board is to timely, and in a fair manner, resolve appeals and to produce clear and well reasoned decisions, consistent with the law and justice. Revenue and expenditures are set by appropriation. Total appropriations have been between $800,000 and approximately $1 million each year for the audit period between July 1, 2002, and June 30, 2006.
