Green River Community College is a two-year public college that offers degrees and certificates
in academic and professional/technical programs, as well as courses in continuing education and
developmental education. The College was founded in 1965 and is located in Auburn. It has two
satellite campuses in Kent and Enumclaw. The College serves approximately 16,000 students
annually. The 2003-04 operating budget was approximately $44 million, of which the state
appropriation was approximately $17.6 million. The 2004-05 operating budget was approximately
$46 million, of which the state appropriation was approximately $18.4 million. The College
employs approximately 120 full-time faculty members, 210 part-time faculty members, and 290
staff members. A five-member Board of Trustees, appointed by the Governor, is responsible for
oversight of College operations.
