Below is an e-mail from somebody that saw my website and then e-mailed an Olympia Kiwanian. The Kiwanian replied, and also complain about being unfairly associated with the OKBR. Also included is my response.
The Olympia Washington Kiwanis members and their friends have cost the Washington State taxpayers over $50 million dollars (so far), because of their willful ignorance of long term, merciless and well known, child abuse that occurred at the Olympia Kiwanis Boys Ranch.
October 2006 note: This Olympia Kiwanis stuff is old news. I've left this information on the web, because I like the thought that someone will say to one of these Kiwanis friends or members: "Grandma, (Grandpa), are you still friends with those Olympia Kiwanians?"

just stumbled onto your pages, and it would appear that tom van woerdan
was absolutely correct when he said the boys are loved by members of the
staff. i did not intend that double entendre, but there it sits.
it's all just so sad...

message i'll send along, as well)

dear mr. reed, were you aware of problems at the ok boy's ranch, as the operator of this
web site suggests?
curious,

an old dog that won't die. who is this guy? what is his obsession with
okbr? way to flush him out - if we can get him in the race maybe we can
find out why he is so obsessed. every member is guitly by association -
even if the "association" is not real. he sure spends a lot of time on this
stuff.

I just realized I responded to you instead of Sam. I would be happy to
"talk" to you about the Boys Ranch since I was President of the Club when
the suits were filed.

i've got lots of time and i'm probably obsessive/compulsive. this is a dog
that shouldn't die. i recently (this summer) sent for and received from
http://www.infopoint.com/scv/orgs/cptc/books.html (Institutional Negligence
of Children:The OK Boys Ranch Case. Attorney John Connelly, Jr. and
principal psychiatric expert Gilbert Kliman, M.D. Details of how children
won compensation of over 35 million dollars from the Kiwanis Club and the
State of Washington. Three hour video tape and 100 page handbook.) the
information on this tape suprised me, even though i've been getting
documents on the case for the last three years. 13 of the okbr kids give video
taped depositions about their time at the ranch. they say that they were molested and sadistically
abused by many of the staff at the ranch. i thought that it was only child on
child abuse, but apparently the staff was heavily involved. i've tried
uploading portions of this video to audio files at
http://www.lbloom.net/okaudio.html but i don't know if i've got it
right yet. if i've uploaded it correctly and if you have realaudio, you
should listen to the 29 minute audio that starts out with a Seattle King 5
TV news report from 1992 about the Olympia Kiwanis Boys Ranch, and then has
portions of 13 OKBR kids giving a 1996 videotape depositions about their
treatment at the OKBR, i found it amazing. if the audio works or doesn't
work, i'd like to know. i'm new at this, but i'll keep trying til i get it
right. thanks for e-mailing sam reed and/or bob van schoorl. they both work
at the thurston county auditors office and are long time Olympia Kiwanis
buddies, and long time politicians.

There were many obvious and long-term warnings about the 1970-94 OKBR.
