Franklin County was incorporated in 1883 and currently has a population of approximately 64,000
residents. An elected, three-member Board of Commissioners governs the County. The County
has 14 additional elected positions: Assessor, Auditor, Coroner, Clerk, District Court Judge,
Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, Treasurer and six Superior Court Judges.
Approximately 250 employees provide public safety, road improvement, parks and recreation,
judicial administration, health and social services and general administration services to County
residents. The County’s budget for 2006 was $53.3 million, including a $25.1 million current
expense budget.
