The City of Lake Stevens has an estimated population of 7,135 and encompasses approximately
two square miles in Snohomish County. A council-mayor form of government administers the
City with seven elected Council Members and an elected Mayor. The City has 26 full-time
employees providing police, planning and zoning, park maintenance, street maintenance and
general government services. Snohomish County Fire Protection District No. 8 provides fire and
emergency medical services. The City also contracts out its solid waste collection and disposal
services. The City’s revenues for 2004 and 2003 were $6,747,020 and $6,553,262, respectively.
