The Port of Anacortes is a municipal corporation created by state statute in 1926. An elected, five-member Board of Commissioners governs the Port and serves four-year, staggered terms. The Board appoints an Executive Director to conduct operations. The Port operates on an annual budget of approximately $7 million. Skagit County acts as treasurer and levies and collects taxes on the Port’s behalf. The Port’s 30 employees provide an array of operational services at the airport, marina and marine terminal. The Port also fosters economic activity through its property rentals and ground leases.
