The Port of Anacortes is a municipal corporation created by state statute in 1926. An elected,
five-member Board of Commissioners governs the Port and serves four-year, staggered terms.
The Board appoints an Executive Director to conduct operations. The Port operates on an
annual budget of approximately $7 million. Skagit County acts as treasurer and levies and
collects taxes on the Portís behalf. The Portís 30 employees provide an array of operational
services at the airport, marina and marine terminal. The Port also fosters economic activity
through its property rentals and ground leases.
