The Port of Port Townsend was created in 1925 by a vote of the citizens of the Port district. The
Port shares geographic boundaries with Jefferson County. The County levies and collects taxes
on behalf of the Port. The Port owns land, industrial and commercial property, three marinas, an
RV Park, a work yard and shipyard, an airport and seven additional recreational and water use
properties throughout Jefferson County. The Portís primary mission is economic development.
The Port is governed by a three-member Board of Commissioners elected by Port district voters.
The Commissioners appoint an Executive Director to manage Port operations and a Director of
Finance/Port Auditor to manage the Portís finances. The Port has approximately $3.8 million in
yearly revenues and 33 employees.
