The Port of Port Townsend was created in 1925 by a vote of the citizens of the Port district. The Port shares geographic boundaries with Jefferson County. The County levies and collects taxes on behalf of the Port. The Port owns land, industrial and commercial property, three marinas, an RV Park, a work yard and shipyard, an airport and seven additional recreational and water use properties throughout Jefferson County. The Port’s primary mission is economic development. The Port is governed by a three-member Board of Commissioners elected by Port district voters. The Commissioners appoint an Executive Director to manage Port operations and a Director of Finance/Port Auditor to manage the Port’s finances. The Port has approximately $3.8 million in yearly revenues and 33 employees.
